Starkey Hill Trail - Arkell

Latitude/Longitude:  43° 32' 43" N , 80° 9' 23" W

This is a unique 4 km loop trail suitable for walking (no cycling permitted). The trail begins at a large parking lot, and a surface which starts with loose gravel, and then changes quickly to hard packed dirt. The level of difficulty varies, depending on the hills, from easy to moderate. There is one small loop and one larger loop. The landscape reflects its glacial origin, having a moraine ridge (Starkey Hill) and kettle lakes. The trail winds through maple and beech hardwood forest and white pine plantation. There is no winter maintenance for the parking lot or trails, so the user is advised to use discretion when deciding whether to use the trail in winter. There will be no problem in other seasons.
